What was once a neglected park in Shakurpur, Delhi, had become heavily littered and was being used as an informal dumping ground, with waste taking over a space meant for the community. Vrikshit Foundation stepped in with the support of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), our dedicated volunteers, and the necessary cleaning tools. Together, we cleared the accumulated waste and worked to restore the space to its intended purpose—a cleaner, safer, and more welcoming public park. The transformation was powered by teamwork. Volunteers showed up, tools turned into action, and a neglected space began to breathe again. This cleanup was not just about removing garbage; it was about reclaiming a community space and reminding everyone that public places deserve care too.

The space beneath Deepali Chowk Flyover, once neglected due to years of littering, construction debris, and encroachments, is now being transformed into a greener public space. With the support of PWD, Delhi Government, and Dixon Technologies, Vrikshit Foundation carried out a plantation drive to introduce native saplings and restore the ecological value of the area. This collaborative initiative aims to improve air quality, enhance biodiversity, and create a cleaner, healthier environment for the community. More than a plantation drive, it represents a shared commitment to reclaiming neglected public spaces and transforming them into green, sustainable assets for the city, marking another significant milestone in the ongoing transformation of Deepali Chowk Flyover.

A clean-up drive was conducted around the vicinity of IIT Delhi, focusing on restoring the cleanliness of one of the city’s most prominent educational surroundings. Volunteers came together to clear litter from roadsides and nearby public spaces, addressing waste that often goes unnoticed in high-footfall areas. Beyond just collecting waste, the initiative aimed to encourage a sense of responsibility among the local community and passersby. The drive not only improved the immediate environment but also sparked conversations around maintaining cleanliness in everyday spaces. It was a step towards ensuring that areas shaping young minds reflect the values of sustainability and care.
